I started riding horses at a very young age. I think I was in 4th grade and had a great passion for horses. My family did not have the acreage it requires to care for a horse so I begged to ride anyone's horse. I finally found a family right up the road that had Shetlands and they said "go for it".......Yippee Yahoo!! Wow that was a time! No tack! My girlfriend and I would hop on and hang onto the mane for dear life. It taught me a great deal about riding. I eventually graduated to other horses in the area and most of them were pretty ornery. They were hard to catch and once caught they were really bad about tacking up. Once in the saddle they either didn't want to go forward or they were off to the races and it was everything you could do to stop them. 
Since then I have learned so very much. I have found out that most horses have pain with saddle fitting and other ill fitting tack. I am determined to help people with their tack fitting needs. My husband and I have learned a great deal the hard way. After wondering why our horses were so difficult to ride and buying saddles that just looked good or were a good price we found that our horses were actually sore from the saddle. After chiropractic work and years of re-training the horse to trust that saddling is not going to "hurt" our rides are so much more pleasant. We have found that most riders (like us) need to be educated about saddle fitting. It makes so much difference in the horses movement as well as your comfort as a rider.
